Keyword Research for search engines optimization

The most fundamental element of SEO starts with strong keyword research. We have discussed this topic is brief here.

Concentrate on User Intent

Our aim should be to address the reader’s query and make the content more useful. You can consider adding Videos, website references, explain any concepts easily and answer reader queries.

SEO-friendly-heading

Foremost, a heading should tell how the reader will benefit from your post and should also contain the target keyword.

A correct heading structures helps improving accessibility and SEO of your post/article.

Optimal page URL

The URL of your blog post is crawled by search engine bots which are how search engines figure out what your article is about. Hence, It is an invaluable opportunity to include your target keyword phrase.

If you check the URL on rightpurchasing, you will see that they are short and include the target keyword.

Search engine website crawlers go through your text and look for keywords and pay special attention to linked keywords as they have more weightage.

Type of links

  • Anchor Links: Links to other areas of the same post.
  • Internal Links: Links to relevant content on your website.
  • External links: Link to relevant content on any other website.

Meta Description:

Meta Description is the text that appears after a headline on an SERP. Google also highlights the keywords being searched.

Make sure to add the keywords in this description and describe between 50-160 characters along with entailing the benefit of a reader.

Optimize the Images for search engines optimization

Search engines can’t see a picture as we do. It looks at the image file’s description; both the title and image alt text to understand any image. The optimal size for a picture is 1,000px and you could use Adobe photoshop/ImageOptim/Affinity photo for optimizing your images.

Even after following all these steps rigorously, it could take up to 6 months to start seeing good results.

However, with hard and rigorously work on the blogs you will surely see a positive effect. Always try to keep your audience in mind and ask yourself what you can do to make your content even better for them.

  1. Some great tips. Are there any tips that must be kept in mind while writing the meta? i add the keyword and take care of the length but i cannot understand what is the right thing to write.

    • There are tips to write meta as well Arushi. One tip I can give you right away is the use of keyword which should be used 2 times and the ideal length should be 21-25 words. The best thing to write in meta description is the excerpt of your post.

  2. Another important topic. Headline, keywords, meta description everything out together makes a strong SEO friendly post.

    I have one question. You said the heading should be small but when I check the headline score, it sometimes says..it is better to have long headline as it makes the message clear to the readers.

    • Hi Alpana, thanks for appreciating.
      When I say a small heading it should explain the body and in minimal words.
      However, there is a difference in a headline and a heading, headline is the first heading of the page and should basically describe what the complete post is about while the heading explains only about that particular section of the body. I hope this isn’t confusing. In other words, all headlines are headings but all headings are not headlines.

  4. SEO is an essential part of blog/website. It targets quality traffic as it is inbound marketing strategy. It is much more customer-centric. A huge majority of SEO best practices are all about relevancy and intent. As SEO is more inbound I would suggest linking internally to other pages on your website will help show search engines the validity or relevancy of your blog content. If you’ve written about a topic that’s mentioned in your blog post on another blog post, ebook, or web page, it’s a best practice to link to that page. It would help keep visitors on your website, but it also surfaces your authoritative pages to search engines. When planning and writing your blog articles, ensure they remain relevant and valuable over a long period of time – it will help you in your ranking and steady amounts of traffic coming to your blog after it’s date of publication will be maintained. Lastly as most of the blogs have their content unorganized it makes SEO do it’s job difficult as it results in URLs competing against one another in search engine rankings. No idea if you are aware please do use topic cluster model – I have used this for my blog and it worked wonders – choose the topics for which you want to rank- write content based on specific keywords related to that topic and link to each other to establish broader search engine authority. It is easy to read but little difficult initially but as you keep doing it, it becomes doable.

    • I understand. I have considered the topic cluster model, but it wouldn’t be helpful for me at the moment as rightpurchasing is comparatively new website. Once I have a lot of content, probably I can follow that as well.

  5. A very useful post. How does one stand out on Google when one writes on a popular topic? Even following SEO principles is not enough in that case!

    • It’s difficult, but history has seen many individual writers who’ve been ranked better than an MNC. The key here was updated and detailed content with precision to SEO.
