C – Content Marketing Strategy

Content marketing strategy is a pathway that not only helps you create specific content but also how to create and promote it. No matter how strong or important your content, it cannot convert readers/viewers into customers until it is strategically placed.

In simple terms, Content marketing strategy is a means to woo, retain and convert readers to make business.

Follow these steps to build a content marketing strategy:

1. The goal for your content marketing

How do you intent to gauge the success of your content? Viewers, Subscribers, Shares or any other aspect?

It is important to know your goals while you are starting as it gives your efforts a purpose.

Hence it is always easy to create a marketing strategy before you actually create your content. Today it is very important to market your content for it to reach the masses to be successful.

2. Understanding your Blog-audience

Best marketing strategy is to CARE.

Who you create for is as important as how or what. It is vital for you to create content according to your blog-audience. You can concentrate around,

1. You need to focus on the age, gender, location and profession of your audience.
2. Similarly important is the belief system, interests and the attitude of your reader/viewers.
3.Present yourself where your audience exists

3. Email list

Once your content is ready, it should be read by your audience.

Email lets you communicate directly with your subscribers and interested audiences. Email list building is a great way to amplify your content.

This would be similar to the app notification you get when one of your favorite/subscribed Youtuber posts their content.

4. Brainstorming Ideas and keyword research

At this stage, you need to make sure to stay strategic and not fall prey to simply reacting and plan an agenda that is tied along with your goals.

Though you know your niche, Keyword research is very important to write about the specific content.

Most blogs are successful today due to their strong keyword search.

5. Promotion

Today, just sharing is not enough. You need to use the Jab,Jab,Jab,Right Hook strategy (Given by Gary) which simply means that you need to become a trustworthy source for your readers/viewers and earn their attention so that you can ask them for something which is not just a like or a share.

The paid promotion also helps in gaining attention or even new readers.

In a brief, this was our attempt at building a Content Marketing Strategy, but your strategy will be effective only when you have a relevant domain name and ranking, more on this in the next chapter.

A few important aspects of this strategy have to be discussed in detail, hence we will do that in upcoming chapters for a better and complete understanding…

  1. Content is definitely the king but along with that keyword search, knowing the audience is very important. having a domain name and ranking, DA definitely plays a big role. Looking forward to your next post. I am guessing does D stands for Domain Authority?

    • Thanks for appreciating Alpana. Domain authority is just another name for domain ranking. DA was given my MOZ Alexa ranking by another. I will be discussing ranking for a better understanding in further chapters. However, for “D,” I’ve selected domain name and its ranking in brief

  2. A very useful post for new bloggers like me. I have a question. What tools do you recommend for Keyword research? Are all the Keyword research tools in the market with their cost?

    • Hey Navita, I’m glad you like the post. You can always use the “Google trends” tool.
It is free and gives you accurate research.
In fact for almost everything you have a google tool or website and the best part is that they are all FREE.!!!
I was supposed to add the tools detail in the post. Must’ve slipped off my mind. Thanks for reminding. Happy A2Zing 🙂

  3. This is an easy to understand post about content marketing strategy as someone who read and keeps reading a lot on all this, I would suggest best way to achieve goals is to make them specific and measurable by setting up key performance indicators (KPIs) for your content marketing strategy. The KPIs will help you know when you have achieved your goals by providing milestones you can check off. They’ll include what you plan to achieve in terms of revenue, sales, traffic, SEO, traffic and different aspects of digital marketing like email marketing and social media metrics. Other than this you’ve covered good points in your post.

  4. Content is the big chunk of literary meat that a writer puts down in a blog (or in print) for a reader to devour. But that is not all. There are a whole lot of things to be kept in mind so that what you write reaches your niche. This post provides some useful insights. Thank you! I quite enjoyed brushing up my know-how on the subject.

    • Domain authority is just another name for website ranking given by “Moz.”
We have discussed a little about domain ranking in the next post and more in detail in the chapters to come. Hope you find it useful. Thank you 🙂

    • Exactly! Many bloggers start off without understanding the other aspects of blogging. Though a little difficult, i believe it’s important.
      Thanks for appreciating 🙂 🙂

  5. That was a very informative post on the most important part of blogging, content. Marketing your content is so important and thus a strategy is important. I need to work a lot on this and I am beginning to learn more in this. Thanks for sharing this.

  6. I read a lot about blogging success as well as digital marketing. But it needs to be refreshed to spark a new idea.

My C-Day post is Coca-Cola – Cisco Systems – Industrial Engineering Activities and Jobs
Productivity Success Story of Coca Cola – CISCO Green Value Engineering

But my excitement of the day is the observation is that my Online Handbook of Industrial Engineering – 2019 Version – Narayana Rao is popular now.
https://nraoiekc.blogspot.com/2019/05/knol-handbook-of-industrial-engineering.html I hope this A to Z participation will help it further.

    • Yes. Keyword research is one of the most important aspects of building SEO. If you are interested, our post on “K – Keyword research” will be published on Monday, 13th April.
      Good luck 🙂

    • Basically you need to build trust with your readers or followers which is so strong that when you ask them to purchase a product they should do it without any hesitation. That should be the level of trust for you by your readers/followers. This is what I meant in terms of that statement. In a pursuit to keep a tight cap on word limit, we might use a few complex statements here and there. Our apologies. Good luck 🙂
